The findings in plain words
Epithalon began with the pineal gland, then tests widened
Khavinson's group made Epithalon for pineal-gland research. From 2003 through 2025, tests moved to cells, animals, and a few older people.
Epithalon is a tiny part first copied from pineal tissue
Khavinson's group first studied an extract from cow pineal glands in the 1970s. It later made Epithalon as one small part of that extract.
Epithalon joins four amino acids, the small pieces that make proteins. At about 390 daltons, a lab unit for tiny matter, Epithalon is very small [17].
Scientists found Epithalon in human pineal tissue in 2017 [17]. The pineal gland keeps your sleep-wake rhythm on time.
It releases melatonin, a hormone that rises after dark. Later cell studies tested telomerase, an enzyme that repairs chromosome tips.
Chromosomes hold the DNA instructions in each cell. These cell studies don't show that Epithalon helps a person.
Fair tests in people are still needed. A promising cell change isn't enough.
Epitalon changed cells and animals, but human proof is thin
Researchers asked about aging, life span, sleep, tumors, and nerves. The strongest results still come from cells and animals.
In 2003, one group found longer chromosome tips in human cells [1]. A 2025 group found longer tips in four other cell groups [2].
That 2025 work came from a team outside Russia. The test involved isolated cells rather than people.
The cells sat in liquid holding 0.1–1.0 micrograms per milliliter. One million micrograms make a gram.
Female mice lived up to 12.3% longer after 1.0 microgram shots. Their bone marrow cells also had 17.1% less chromosome damage [4].
Fruit-fly food held no more than 0.001 percent Epitalon. The paper used powers of 10 for the least amount: 5 millionths of one percent.
Some flies lived 11–16% longer [3]. Neither animal study shows that Epitalon adds years to your life.
Evening melatonin rose in older monkeys, which could affect sleep time [5]. Older people with low melatonin also made more at night [6].
Mice bred to grow breast tumors had fewer tumors [9]. Rats given a cancer-causing chemical had fewer colon tumors [10].
Those were animal tests, not cancer care for people. Reviewers in 2025 found no single cause for the cell, hormone, and tumor results [17].
The review also left a safety worry unsettled. Cell growth that looks useful could also help a tumor.
Epithalon lengthened animal life, not human life
Fruit flies lived 11–16% longer with Epitalon in one test [3]. Two mouse tests found 12.3–13.3% gains among the last 10% left alive [4][14].
The second test used 1 kind of female mouse bred to age fast. Fast aging made changes easier to see.
Earlier rats lived 25% longer with Epithalamin, a mixed pineal-gland extract [17]. Almost every animal life test was led by the same researchers.
A different team tested human cells in 2025, not people. It mixed 0.1–1.0 micrograms of Epitalon into each milliliter of dish liquid [2].
That 2025 test found longer chromosome tips in the cells. A longer cell tip doesn't mean a longer human life.
No other lab has repeated the rodent life tests. No human trial has split people by lottery to test life span.
Such a trial would need years of checks for harm. The repair enzyme telomerase can also help tumors grow.
Some older people had melatonin or eye changes. Those results don't show that Epithalon adds years to your life.
Epithalon helped damaged eye cells close a test wound
Some studies found longer chromosome tips in loose cells [1][2]. Others found better cell defenses [15] or a change in melatonin [5][6][7].
Rodents had fewer tumors in three tests [9][10][16]. Young stem cells, which can grow into other cell types, showed changes tied to nerves [11][12].
The main 2025 review gathered several early results. White blood cells had 33.3% longer chromosome tips in dish tests.
Fruit flies also lived 16% longer. In rats, one eye measure lasted 43.9% longer.
Healthy breast cells made far more telomerase, the enzyme that repairs chromosome tips [17]. None of these results shows that a person felt better.
Another 2025 study placed 20–60 billionths of a gram per milliliter around damaged eye cells [15]. The treated cells closed a test wound faster.
The dish test found 1 clear gain in repair and 1 in cell defense. The cells also handled harmful forms of oxygen better.
Researchers used retina-support cells known as line 19. Three signs linked with scar-like change slowed.
No living eye, with blood flow and nerves, was tested. These results came from cells in a dish.
They don't tell what you would feel or whether Epithalon is safe. The cell findings show why chromosome tips drew interest.
The hormone findings show a blood-test change. They don't show that anyone slept better.
Epitalon and Epithalon name one compound
Epitalon and Epithalon mean the same compound. Both names refer to the same four amino acids.
Early Russian papers often use Epitalon. That spelling appears in papers from 2000, 2001, 2002, and 2003.
English papers and sellers often use Epithalon. A changed spelling doesn't make a different form.
The note on both spellings gives the short history. You aren't looking at two grades or two drugs.
Epithalamin is a mixed pineal-gland extract. Epithalon is one small compound.
The Epithalamin and Epithalon section explains that difference. The extract's results don't always apply to Epithalon.
